Day 6 Writing 201- Found Poetry, Faces & Chiamus

The Ending ~ Love, Sex & Poetry
By: Linda A. Long

Pulling the mask off
I stand in
Authenticity
Showing you
The face of my true self

“I want to know
If you can see Beauty
Even when it is not pretty every day
And can you source
Your own life from its presence”

I’m showing you
All of me
From inside to out
I’m opening the shutters
And letting
Your light inside
Of me

Because
“After a while you learn
subtle difference
Between holding a hand
Chaining a soul
And you learn that love
Doesn’t mean leaning
And company
Doesn’t mean security,
And you begin to learn
That kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises”

But I still I want to
Go on this journey
With you
I still believe in spite
Of my lifetime commitment
To being non-committal
I now in all sincere
Honesty believe
I am ready
For you to see
My true face
The one no one else
Has seen
I Now confess
In spite of not completely trusting
My heart to another man
I now trust you completely

“Let me not
To the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments”

Standing face to face
Looking my dark Browns
Into your baby blues
I say
“Two roads
Diverged in the woods
And I took
The one last traveled by”
With you

We weren’t each
Others beginning
Our firsts belong
To others
But I’ve heard
It’s not how you
Start that matters
It’s how you finish
And I want you
To be my last
My only
Until my ending

Note:
Today’s Assignment in Writing 201 – Poetry was to create a poem about faces using “found poetry”. In other words, borrowing words, phrases or verses from other poems. We were also supposed to use a “Chiamus” which is an which reverses the structure of one sentence in the next. Not sure I achieved Chaimus but I lost steam and had to move on to other tasks today.

I borrowed verses/phrases from:
“The Invitation” By Oriah Mountain Dreamer
“Sonnet 116” by William Shakespeare
“Road Less Traveled” by Robert Frost
“Comes The Dawn” by Veronica Shoffstall or Judith Evans. This is still being debated online

Beautiful illustration…..beautiful insertion of words from other poems — found poetry. This is absolutely part of the definition of love — unconditional love. We are blessed when we find it………and I am 46 years blessed. Thank you. Beautiful post. So glad to have found you in Writing 201.

  4. Thank you for your kind words Lillian. I am so glad you enjoyed my poem. Have a great day
